The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has an almost infinite amount of secrets in its enormous open-world interpretation of Hyrule. You can find anything from a new recipe to broaden your horizons, or even find a village by the coast who have been taken over by pirates. Many of these secrets are hidden around Hyrule’s various locales, making some of them a tad bit difficult to find. One such locale is Mekar Island, which is a pretty unassuming island that holds a boss fight. Here’s our guide on where to find Mekar Island in Tears of the Kingdom.
Where to find Mekar Island in Tears of the Kingdom
Finding Mekar Island can take you a while just by looking at the map of Hyrule, due to how large the open-world is. Luckily, knowing where to look cuts this process down quite a bit. You need to look in the north of the map for Mekar Island, as it’s located next to the Great Hyrule Forest. Precisely, it’s just to the left of the Great Hyrule Forest and Korok Forest. You can see the precise location on the map below.
Reaching Mekar Island in Tears of the Kingdom is rather easy. It’s not within the mist that won’t let you enter the Great Hyrule Forest, as it’s the first island to the left of the forest. This means you can simply teleport to the nearest shrine and make your way over using a glider from a nearby mountainside. I personally teleport to the Kikakin Shrine which you can see just to the north of Mekar Island in the map above.
What to find there
When you arrive on Mekar Island, you might find that it seems a bit empty. It’s a tiny island, with only a tree in the center of it. However, if you run around on the island you’ll notice a boss encounter spawns. Mekar Island is one of a few locations in the game where you can find a fight against Gloom Hands and Phantom Ganon. This fight is tough, so make sure to come prepared.
