How to get Black River Scythe in Diablo 4

Bigger is always better.

In Diablo 4, it seems like the Necromancer class has become the most sought-after role in the game. The armor like the Blood Artisan’s Curiass, Aspects, and other things this class gets make it stand on its own. Plus, with the army of the undead rallying behind them, the Necromancer is probably one of the most dynamic classes in the game. There’s a lot of what you can do for this class. If your Necromancer build focuses on AoE damage, the Black River Scythe could be for you. Read this guide on how to get the Black River Scythe in Diablo 4.

Just like the Blood Artisan’s Curiass mentioned earlier, you need to play on either World Tier 3 or 4. This is because the scythe is a Unique weapon and can only be found in higher World Tiers. However, the weapon doesn’t seem to be as rare as most other pieces of gear for Necromancer. But, with the same breath, it’s time-consuming.

For a better chance of having it appear, play the Nightmare Dungeons, Helltide events, or even take on the World Bosses. If you choose to take on the mighty World Boss, make sure you go into the fight well-equipped and with proper backup.

Additionally, it seems like the odds increase when you’re playing on World Tier 4. So do the methods mentioned above on the highest World Tier, and the Black River Scythe may drop sooner.

The Effects

As mentioned, if you’re creating a play style around AoE damage like the Bone Spear build, this weapon can complete it. If you have a Corpse Explosion skill active, the ability of the weapon expands the radius. But this comes at a cost. Initially, when Corpse Explosion is active, you must have corpses around in order for it to work. The effect is still the same with the weapon, however, because the radius is larger, and the consumption is greater. Meaning, Corpse Explosion uses significantly more corpses.

While this may deter you, in places like Nightmare Dugeson, clearing out an area quickly as possible is the name of the game.
