Fans of the Diablo series know that the real fun with the game comes from the endgame content. Once you’ve completed the main quest and reached level 50 in Diablo 4, there are a plethora of exciting things to do. One look at your map may be overwhelming, with all the new features in store. We’ll explain what all the endgame activities are in Diablo 4 so you can continue playing.
What to do in Diablo 4 endgame
After finishing the six Acts of the main story, you may believe you’re done with the game. However, that’s far from the truth. If you finish that and get to the Priority Quests, you’ll have some new activities available. To get to some of these activities, like the Helltide events, you must complete these Priority Quests. In turn, you’ll unlock World Tier III, which opens a gateway to a whole new way to play Diablo 4. Let us explain the endgame activities in Diablo 4, and how you can take advantage of them.
Helltide events
As soon as you get into World Tier III, your map will look a little different. Certain areas on the map are infected with Helltide, and for an hour, you can interact with this event. You’ll come across powerful enemies who will drop Aberrant Cinders, which you can use to open Helltide Mystery chests. Spending these Aberrant Cinders can earn you high-leveled gear items, except you won’t know what you get until you buy it.
You can even farm some Fiend Roses in these areas, which are useful with Occultists. Otherwise, since this is a timed event, you’ll lose your Aberrant Cinders once it’s over, if you leave the area, or if you die.
Nightmare Dungeons
Were you not impressed with the normal Dungeons in Diablo 4? Well, they’re about to get a lot harder. While they may be more difficult, these Nightmare Dungeons are even more rewarding than your usual ones. Wondering how you can unlock them? You’ll need a special key called Nightmare Sigils. There are a few different ways of acquiring them, such as completing Whispers of the Dead, which is another endgame activity.
Whispers of the Dead
After completing the main story, head back to the Tree of Whispers to unlock a new activity. Now, on your map, there will be multiple new icons. They’re temporary, but they’ll constantly refresh with new objectives to do. Essentially, completing an activity rewards you with one or a few Grim Favors. The harder the task, the more Grim Favors you’ll earn.
For every 10 Grim Favors you get, the Tree of Whispers will grant you a reward. It’ll give you a choice between three different items. These Grim Favors will certainly keep you busy throughout your endgame playthrough of Diablo 4.
World bosses
If you enjoyed partaking in Legion events with players online, you’ll probably also like the World bosses. They’ll spawn at random times, but in relatively similar places. World bosses spawn as a type of Grim Favor, and will reward you with five Grim Favors and an extra item. Luckily, your map will warn you about half an hour before it starts, giving you plenty of time to show up.
For now, there are three different World bosses, who are Ashava, an Act VI boss, Wandering Death, and Avarice. Wondering when these bosses will appear? There’s actually a Twitter account that acts as a Diablo 4 World boss timer.
Fields of Hatred
Of course, this is available before the endgame, but they’re a lot more rewarding to partake in after the campaign. In the Fields of Hatred, which there are two of, you can engage in PvP combat with players online. With enemy kills and player defeats, you can earn Seeds of Hatred. Turning them into Red Dust and saving up enough can earn you some unique cosmetics, once you visit the towns in those areas.
Capstone Dungeons
Did you think Nightmare Dungeons were difficult? You should try out the Capstone Dungeons. These giant Dungeons are few in numbers, but they’re tough as nails to beat. One of them is in the Cathedral of Light, which you’ll need to complete at World Tier II in order to unlock the next Tier. There’s also one in the Fallen Temple, which you can complete on the third World Tier to unlock the fourth one.
You’ll want to make sure you have a ton of time on your hands before jumping into one of these. Also, pack the proper Elixirs, because there are numerous hoards of enemies, as well as a few different boss fights. Although Capstone Dungeons are challenging, they’re evermore rewarding.
Paragon Board
Once you reach level 50, you won’t be earning Skill Points normally anymore. Depending on how much XP you have during each level, you can earn Paragon Points to use in the Paragon Board. What is this exactly? This is another type of skill tree, except you can raise your stat levels. Also, unlocking certain nodes can earn you interesting buffs, depending on the type. We’ve already done a deep dive into what the Paragon Board system does.
Other activities
Although I’ve explained all the endgame activities in Diablo 4, there is still much more you can do. You should have a ton of side quests in your quest log, as well as more undiscovered. Speaking of undiscovered, have you uncovered much of the area on your map? There may be more places you haven’t checked out yet.
Not only that, but there is much more content on the horizon. The first Season 1 Battle Pass starts very soon, which will grant more events, missions, and rewards every three months. Finish more Dungeons to unlock Aspects, and tread through any Cellars you pass by. Diablo 4 is here to stay, so don’t stop playing yet!
