There will be plenty of time during Final Fantasy 16 where Clive starts to get close to death. Like most video games, you have a health bar, which you’ll want to keep filled. In the latest mainline Final Fantasy title, there are a few different ways to keep yourself from dying. We’ll explain how you can heal yourself in Final Fantasy 16 so you don’t have to worry about that ‘Game Over’ screen.
Ways to heal in Final Fantasy 16
If you’ve ever played a Final Fantasy game before, you probably know that there are multiple types of elixirs and potions to consume. One of these potions is a healing potion. As soon as you get into your first combat session in Final Fantasy 16, the game will let you try out your arsenal of consumables.
The one called ‘Potion’ will heal you a tiny amount, which Clive can use by pressing ‘up’ on the d-pad. The more you play this game, the more you’ll unlock stronger health potions, such as the High Potion. You can even change which shortcut gives you what potion in the menu.
Drinking potions isn’t the only way Clive can heal himself. It doesn’t take long before you’ll eventually unlock Torgal, your large pet dog. He’s not just a good boy all the time, he’s an extra good boy on the battlefield. Once you get Torgal, pressing ‘left’ on the d-pad allows you to give him three different commands.
He can Sic an enemy, give a harsher Ravage attack, and he can even heal you. If you ask Torgal to heal you, he will help you slowly raise your health. It doesn’t work as fast or as well as potions do, but you should give him pets nonetheless.
If you’re not impressed with how much you can heal yourself in Final Fantasy 16, there are some gear items that can help you with that. For example, on one of the story missions I was on, I received the ‘Cleric’s Medallion’ as a reward. This accessory increases the healing potency of your potions.
Final Fantasy 16 is available on the PlayStation 5.
