What does Vulnerable mean in Diablo 4? Explained

This status effect could make or break you.

There’s a handful of negative effects you can place on enemies in Diablo 4. They can either slow them down or make them lose health over time, in any case, these status effects are helpful. Just like most things you acquire in Diablo 4, the effects can make your build better. If you’re creating a tank build, you can find a piece of gear that gives you Thorns. However, on the other side, enemies can also apply effects to you. This mechanic goes both ways, so it’s best to be careful in all conflicts. Not every effect is explained well, if you’re new to the Diablo series, this may leave you confused. One status effect is called Vulnerable and can be used among all the classes. If you’re asking yourself “What does Vulnerable mean in Diablo 4”, that will be explained below.

Diablo 4: What does Vulnerable mean?

When you or the enemy is Vulnerable it means there’s a 20 percent increase in damage taken. If you have this effect on you, and playing solo, it’s best to stay back and wait for the Vulnerable effect to expire.

The summoner build I’m using for my Necromancer in Diablo 4 uses a few AoE skills. It also has skills that can make enemies both Stunned and Vulnerable. I pull in enemies with tendrils which causes them to be Stunned. After, my Iron Golum comes in and does a shockwave attack that leaves them Vulnerable. So now, enemies can’t fight back for a few seconds, and they take more damage. Plus, my army of undead is putting in extra damage by consistently attacking. When all three things are in sync with one another, my damage output becomes something to brag about.

How to get rid of the Vulnerable effect?

Currently, if you have it — you have it. So you can’t necessarily get rid of it, but you can still fight while it’s active. Additionally, you can still be impacted by other effects while in a Vulnerable state. You’ll know you have it active when your health bar has purple-tinted cracks. Also, while fighting, the word Vulnerable will pop up over your head or an enemy’s. That will be another indicator that the status effect is in play.
