How to get the Trisection and unlock random events in Vampire Survivors

Three sections, many possibilities.

Vampire Survivors is already a fairly random game at the best of times. Packed full of bizarre monster designs, quirky bestiary entries, confounding secrets and, most notably, no vampires whatsoever, the game has built up an offbeat reputation that shines through both in-game and in its marketing. Patch 1.5, ‘The Overwhelming One’, takes this idea even further, introducing random events, available in every stage through the acquisition of a new Relic. This guide will walk you through how to get this Relic, the Trisection, and how you can use it to unlock random events in Vampire Survivors.

Step 1: Head to Astral Stair

To unlock random events, you’ll first need to grab the Trisection Relic, found in the new challenge stage introduced in patch 1.5, Astral Stair. To unlock this stage, you’ll need to reach level 80 in the Inverted Mode version of Inlaid Library: no easy task, even for an experienced player. We’d recommend picking one of the high-ranked characters in our Vampire Survivors character tier list for this task, and pairing them up with some synergistic Arcana Cards to maximize your chances of success. If this isn’t enough, you can make a detour to Abyss Foscari to take advantage of its excellent Golden Egg farming spot: a surefire way to make any character much more powerful.

Step 2: Collect the Trisection

Once you’ve unlocked it, jump into Astral Stair itself. As you play, you’ll notice that the new random events system is already in use here. Every minute or so, a series of spinning wheels will appear in the bottom-right corner of the screen, and choose an event at random. These range from incredibly useful rewards like free passive items, to hindrances like waves of unique enemies. You’ll get an idea of what the system brings to the table as you hunt down the Trisection Relic in the stage.

The Trisection Relic will immediately be visible on the in-game map, and will be pointed out by a green arrow, but you’ll need to figure out the system of teleport doors that connect the different segments of the stage in order to reach it. The Trisection is on the bottom-right island, so you’ll need to head down to the bottom of the vertical section you start in, and head through the teleport door on the right. From here, proceed right through the next couple of rooms, and you’ll find yourself in the Trisection room. Head down to the bottom and you’ll be able to pick it up.

Step 3: Enjoy random events in your runs!

Once you’ve claimed the Trisection, and finished the Astral Stair run in which you did so, you’ll have access to the random events system in every stage in the game. This isn’t enabled by default, however: you will need to turn it on first. On the stage select screen, in the same row where you can enable the likes of Hyper and Inverted Mode, you can turn on random events by ticking the box on the far left.

So there you have it: a complete guide on how to get the Trisection and unlock random events in Vampire Survivors. The chaotic effects of this system make a great addition to the simplistic early maps in the game, and can lead to some exciting highs and lows as you explore the new gameplay possibilities it affords.
