Throughout your time playing Diablo 4, you’ll notice that you’ll need some rare crafting materials to upgrade items. The unfortunate thing about some of these resources is that the game won’t tell you exactly where to find them. Scattered Prisms, for example, are hard to come by, especially if you don’t know how to get them in Diablo 4. Let me explain how you do so.
Where to find Scattered Prisms in Diablo 4
If you’re looking to add a Socket to an item through a Jeweler, you’ll probably be blocked by the fact that it requires a Scattered Prism. Don’t even bother with trying to add Sockets until you beat the main story in Diablo 4. I’ll explain why in a second. Until then, you’re stuck with finding gear that has Sockets already in them.
There are two main ways you can get Scattered Prisms in Diablo 4. One way doesn’t require that you beat the main story. Have you ever noticed a Treasure Goblin in the overworld? These creatures will try to run from you as fast as possible, and can take a few hits to kill. On the bright side, they’re holding a bag of treasure waiting to be stolen.
I found it helpful to use the Teleport ability to keep up with it, as well as frequent Dodging. If you end up killing it before it gets away, the goblin can drop some seriously good loot. They can even drop Scattered Prisms, but it’s lucky to find a Treasure Goblin, and even luckier to get them to drop what you want.
The second way to get Scattered Prisms takes time, but gives you a better chance than the random Treasure Goblins. Once you finish the main story for Diablo 4, you’ll be able to fight World Bosses. They also spawn randomly, so the chances of getting to one and defeating it can be slim. These World Bosses may drop Scattered Prisms once defeated. Honestly though, I’d rather take my chances with a World Boss than a Treasure Goblin.
