Especially if you bought the Digital Deluxe or Ultimate Editions of Diablo 4, you’ll want to know when you get your mount in-game. After completing the prologue and arriving at Kyovashad, you can access the Stables, but when exactly do you get a horse? Look no further — here is when and how you get a mount in Diablo 4.
Note: Horses are cool and all, but did you know you can pet the dogs in Diablo 4?
How to get a mount in Diablo 4, explained
Running around the open world of Diablo 4 is fun at first, but when you need to start backtracking, you’ll want to get a mount. Unfortunately, you need to complete the quest called Donan’s Favor, which is in Act 4 of the main campaign. Act 4 is gatekept by completing Acts 1, 2, and 3 first, so you have a long road ahead of you before unlocking your mount.
By the time you reach Donan’s Favor in Act 4, you’ll be around level 40 to 50, depending on how much side questing you’ve done. Regardless, Donan’s Favor is a main campaign quest, so you can’t miss unlocking your horse in Diablo 4.
How to complete Donan’s Favor in Diablo 4, explained
Early on in Act 4, you’ll get the Donan’s Favor quest. To complete this quest, all you need to do is talk to the stable hand at Kyovashad and then talk with Donan in the Cathedral of Light, also at Kyovashad. After your chat, you’ll unlock your mount. It’s as easy as that!
Return to the stable at Kyovashad (or any stable in any town), and you can equip your horse, saddle equipment, and trophies.
How to use a mount in Diablo 4, explained
To summon your mount, all you need to do is press right on the d-pad on controller or press Z. With your horse summoned, you can now ride wherever you’d like. You can use all of the horse’s unique moves to charge through enemies — but if the horse gets attacked and scared away by too many enemies, the mount summon cooldown will increase. Happy riding!
