How to help Eustus get his wagon out of the pit in Tears of the Kingdom (TotK)

In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you need to convince Great Fairies to come out of their flowers and aid you on your quest. The only way to do this is with music, but the local musicians have issues of their own. Here is our guide on how to help Eustus get his wagon out of the pit in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Tears of the Kingdom – how to help Eustus get his wagon out of the pit

The Great Fairy Mija won’t come out of her flower unless she hears someone playing a horn. You need to talk to her (and her sisters) in order to fully upgrade your armor. The local band, the Stable Trotters, once featured a horn player named Eustus. However, he hasn’t been seen recently.

To help Eustus get his wagon out of the pit, first find the pit and then make necessary tweaks to his wagon. There’s room for experimentation here, but the process is a bit on the tricky side no matter what you do.

Start by finding Eustus where he is trapped in a pit just west of Piper Ridge, in the southern portion of Tabantha Frontier. Talk to Eustus and activate The Hornist’s Dramatic Escape side quest. You clear it by helping him get his wagon out of the pit.

Near the wagon, there are various Zonai pieces, some metal grating, and three crates. The Zonai pieces include two Balloon pieces, two Fan pieces, and two Flame Emitter pieces. These supplies are enough for you to help Eustus get his wagon out of the pit.

Set the metal grating on the ground. Attach the two balloon pieces on opposite sides of the metal grating. Place the flame emitter pieces inside the balloons with the side that spew flame pointed upward. Then, attach the metal sheet to the two posts extended from the wagon.

Attach the three crates together and set them in a stack near the edge of the pit. Put the wagon near their base, pointed toward the edge of the pit. Then tell Eustus to get in it. Once he does, stand on top of the three crates. Fire an arrow at one of the fans to make your contraption come to life. It should ride forward and then start to ascend roughly along the wall. However, it doesn’t likely have enough energy to make it over the lip. As it nears its peak, use the Ultrahand ability to grab it and lift it the last inch or so, then swing it around so it rests on the high ground.

If you try to help Eustus get his wagon out of the pit by lifting it the whole way, the process fails. However, the trick with the crates works like a charm. Alternately, you can use Ultrahand to lift and then hold the wagon in place for a while, just before you tell Eustus to get on board. Then, once he does, use the Recall ability to send it up into the air, where you can grab it with Ultrahand and drag it to safety. Mounting the fans to the wagon’s sides while orienting them diagonally can also help with the process. You have options!
