In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, as in numerous Zelda games before it, you can find fairies scattered throughout Hyrule. The most obvious ones are large and hard to miss, but there are smaller versions that provide welcome health recovery just when you need it most. Here is our guide explaining where to find and catch fairies in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Tears of the Kingdom – where to find and catch fairies
When you have a fairy in your possession and you fall in battle after running out of lives, it may put you back in action with several hearts restored. This process happens automatically, with any need for input on your part.
To find and catch fairies, check for circular bodies of water on the various sky islands. The fairies that sometimes gather around them look like fireflies. They flit about near the water’s edge, usually at Link’s eye level or higher.
To catch fairies, you don’t need to do anything special except sneak up on them. If you read our guide on how to get Sunset Fireflies, the process is about the same. You don’t even need a bottle, the way you did in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Before you approach any fairy, you want to move into a crouch. Don’t walk over anything that would cause you to accidentally hop or stumble. Walk slowly toward the the fairy you mean to catch. Be ready to quickly press the A button when the prompt appears on-screen.
My favorite location to find fairies is Bravery Island. Check our guide on how to get Glide Tights for directions to easily reach it. If you’ve already visited the island for one reason or another, you may also have activated Simosiwak Shrine. In that case, you can fast travel to it each time there is a new blood moon and more fairies should be available. I tend to find and catch fairies at the rate of only two per visit, but that’s still not bad.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is now available for Nintendo Switch.
