In the latest TWAB blog post, Bungie announced that Submachine Guns will get nerfed in Destiny 2 Season of the Deep. Everybody knows that Aggressive Submachine Guns have been dominating PvP, and we all knew this nerf was coming. Though we won’t know until Destiny 2 Season 21 begins, we hope this Submachine Gun nerf won’t make Submachine Guns useless but instead bring them in line with everything else. Here is the Destiny 2 Submachine Gun nerf coming in Season of the Deep.
Note: If you want to know how to counter The Immortal SMG, which is objectively the best SMG in Destiny 2, check out the guide I wrote on Attack of the Fanboy.
What is the Submachine Gun nerf in Destiny 2 Season of the Deep? Explained
To make Submachine Guns in Destiny 2 less overpowered but to still keep them in line with the fantasy, Bungie has decreased the base damage but increased the crit damage slightly. Here is the Submachine Gun nerf coming when Destiny 2 Season of the Deep begins:
- Reduce base damage from 15 to 14.
- Increase precision hit multiplier from 1.45 to 1.5
- The Immortal is getting a reduction of 10 to its base range.
The Submachine Gun nerf coming in Destiny 2 Season 21 isn’t that extreme. Also, it isn’t too clear in the TWAB blog post, but this damage reduction and crit damage boost could only apply to Aggressive Frame SMGs. Either way, we are glad Bungie has heard the SMG complaints from the community. Hopefully, this small nerf will help SMGs not dominate PvP like they have for a while. I also find it hilarious that they know how powerful The Immortal is and made a specific nerf just for that SMG.
Along with the SMG nerf, Sniper Rifles are getting a 10% damage buff in PvE. Other than that, specific weapons that were performing abnormally got tweaks like the Tyranny of Haven Bow, the Long Arm Scout Rifle, and Izanagi’s Burden Sniper Rifle.
