In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you will learn a lot of useful abilities right near the start of your journey. Those abilities will carry you through many adventures to follow, but you don’t find all of them in the first few shrines. Here is our guide explaining how to get the Autobuild ability in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Tears of the Kingdom – how to get Autobuild ability
The Aubobuild ability allows you to save a schematic for a favorite creation (such as a wagon with wheels) and then assemble it automatically the next time you find a group of useful components. This can save a lot of time and fiddling, making the ability quite useful.
To get the Autobuild ability, you must venture into the Depths. The Depths are the underground portion of the Hyrule map, which you’ll find is quite large and plays by its own rules. Before you set out for the Depths, make sure you have a good supply of Brightbloom Seed items and a Fan part.
To enter the Depths, you must dive into a chasm. There are numerous places on the Hyrule map where you can do this. However, the most useful approach is located south of Central Hyrule. Look for the Eastern Abbey area (pictured on the map above) and explore near the top of those ruins. You’ll find the chasm surrounded by walls. Avoid the life-draining goop around the edges and dive into the chasm.
As you fall down the deep pit, use your paraglider off and on to slow your descent (it’s a long fall). At the base of the chasm, you’ll find darkness with a few glowing lights ahead of you. Glide down to them and gather them for use as currency.
In the Depths, you take damage differently, in that typical restorative items don’t let you recover. This is gloom damage. Be careful as you explore. You want to head off toward the left, using Brightbloom Seeds to mark your way.
Look for mine track carts, which for the most part are in the air slightly above ground level. Follow them to their source, where you’ll find a mine cart. Attach the Fan part you brought with you and use it to propel the cart along the tracks.
When you reach the end of those tracks, you should see the Great Abandoned Central Mine area ahead of you. Text will alert you to your location as you approach. There is an opening where you can descend into the mine, but don’t do that.
Instead, climb the overhead wall. At the top, you will find two researchers examining a statue. Check it out yourself to claim the Autobuild ability for yourself. The researchers, very impressed, will walk you through putting your new capabilities to use.
