Remember back in the day playing Breath of the Wild and building Link’s house in Hateno Village? Well, you’re probably wondering if you can return to that same house in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Certain things from the first game actually transfer, like your horses. But if you’re wondering what happened to Link’s house in Tears of the Kingdom, we have an answer for you.
Can you visit Link’s house in Tears of the Kingdom?
You’re in luck, because the house you built, or were supposed to build, in Breath of the Wild is present in the sequel! If you make your return to Hateno Village in Tears of the Kingdom, you’ll have the answer to what happened to Link’s house. It doesn’t connect to your save data, like the stables do. Instead, the game assumes that you completed that side quest, since most Breath of the Wild players built a house.
Visit Hateno Village, and head on over to your old home. What’s interesting is that ever since rescuing Zelda in the previous game, it seems as though Link gave her this house for herself. Photos that Zelda took replace the weapon racks you once had. You can even see a photo of her favorite golden horse. Although she is missing again, walking in feels like she never left. You’re free to sleep in the bed, as well as read the diary she left.
If you’re one to snoop into Zelda’s diary, she talks about revitalizing Hyrule, such as building a new school in Hateno Village. Not only that, but further in you realize she had Hudson build a secret room for her on the property.
Otherwise, Link’s—or should I say Zelda’s—house in Hateno Village looks just about the same as it did in the previous title.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available on the Nintendo Switch.
