How To Get Crickets In Zelda Tears Of The Kingdom

How to get Crickets in Tears of the Kingdom

Chirp, chirp, chirp.

Anyone whose played Breath of the Wild probably remembers the Restless Crickets. They’re pretty much just regular crickets living about Hyrule you can use as an elixir ingredient. You’re bound to find them on the ground flying off during your adventure in Hyrule, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is no different. Here’s how to get crickets in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Despite their name you can’t really find them by noise, unfortunately. Restless Crickets are found widespread in pretty much any grassy area of Hyrule. You’ll find them on the ground or on trees on their own, by cutting tall grass, or by lifting up rocks to find one under them (though you may also find a Korok instead). You have a couple seconds to grab them before they fly off, unless you have a stealth enhancement active. Note you’ll need a proper cleaving weapon like an axe or sword to cut tall grass. Beedle will also sometimes sell them in his shop when you find him.

The reason you need to gather them is for Stamina recovery elixirs. When cooked into an elixir, they’ll create a low-level Stamina wheel recovery elixir. And given all the mountain climbing or extended gliding in this game, you’re definitely going to need those along with their cousins, the Stamina extending elixirs. Once you’ve gathered at least one cricket, drop it into a cooking pot with monster parts to create an elixir and cook that poor insect alive, presumably. No one said Link was always the hero of the story. Be careful about your aiming, as it will fly off if just released outright.

Since they don’t yield a lot of Stamina recovery, you’re going to need to mix them with other Stamina recovery ingredients to get a fuller yield. Do not mix them with food ingredients. You’ll only get Dubious Food.

Now you’ve got elixirs or maybe just a cricket companion you want to hold on to. Just try not to tell any lies.
