Overwatch 2 just got a huge update on what we can expect with PvE, the future seasons, new Heroes, and much more. In general, I think this update is good news, but it does come with several letdowns. Let’s jump right into it — here is everything announced in Overwatch 2 for 2023.

Overwatch 2 PvE Hero Mode canceled, Story Missions explained
In a recent Overwatch 2 Dev Update video, it was revealed that the PvE that was announced in 2018 is canceled, but there will still be a PvE mode coming in Season 6 and future seasons beyond that. Instead of a live PvE experience that was promised, we will get Story Missions that are solo or co-op experiences where you can experience a new piece of story as well as try to get the highest score possible on the leaderboards.
These new PvE Story Missions will be replayable. New Story Missions are planned to release alongside new seasons to kick off a full new story arc. While it is disappointing to not get what was promised, I am excited about the new PvE Story Missions structure and think that it will create a more linear, story-driven experience, which is exactly what I love about Overwatch 2. I’m still skeptical of the actual gameplay and replayability, but overall, it’s an exciting step forward.
Overwatch 2 Season 5, 6, and 7 revealed
One of the most exciting announcements in the Dev Update was the 2023 Roadmap which features tons of information about Season 5, Season 6, Season 7, and beyond.
In Season 5, we can look forward to a new Limited Time Event called Questwatch as well as a gameplay mode called Mischief & Magic. There will also be a new Cinematic reveal, the Summer Games, and much more.
In Season 6, we will get our first PvE Story Mission and also get a new Support Hero. On top of that, we are getting the new map Flashpoint and Hero Mastery which looks to be a new permanent game mode.
In Season 7 and beyond, we’ll get a new Tank Hero, events, maps, and reworks to Roadhog and Sombra. There is so much to look forward to in 2023 and we now know that the Overwatch 2 seasons will be named, similar to how Destiny 2 does it.
All Rumors on Season 6 and 7 Overwatch 2 Support and Tank
We don’t know much about the Support Hero coming in Season 6 or the Tank Hero coming in Season 7. Since the Dev Update is still fresh, we’ll have to wait a little longer before we know who the new Support and Tank Heroes are, what their abilities are, and how they fit in the Overwatch universe.
