How to solve Mayachin Shrine puzzle in Tears of the Kingdom

Home run!

There are many shrines to challenge yourself with in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, but some are a lot trickier than others. It’s honestly a blast to try and solve them all. One of these puzzles is the Fixed Device puzzle in Mayachin Shrine, which requires you to hit a ball onto a target, which is a lot more difficult than it sounds. Here’s our guide on how to solve Mayachin Shrine puzzle in Tears of the Kingdom.

The first thing you’re going to see upon entering this shrine is a platform attached to a rod that is spinning for you to hop over. Step on the switch to activate the target you need to hit with the ball. You can hit the crystal on the right-hand side to turn the device in the middle of the room around, which is what you will use to hit the target with the ball.

Building the Fixed Device for this shrine in Tears of the Kingdom

This is where things start getting tricky, as you need to build yourself a contraption that can hit the ball onto the target, which will solve the Mayachin Shrine puzzle. There’s a couple of ways to do this. My first time through the shrine, I used the platform you initially jump on as a bat. This works fine, but when I attempted it a second time for this guide, the actual platform flew out of position to never be seen again. So watch out for that with any method you use, as this has happened to me multiple times. Luckily you can just reenter the shrine and it respawns the items for you to try again if you run out of things to use.

The most efficient way I have found to get power on the ball is to use the tools provided to the left of the device. The rods you see here in this Tears of the Kingdom shrine can be pushed into objects if you use the spiky side, meaning you can use these to attach things to one another, which is the key to hitting the ball.

You’re going to want to place the spiky side of the rod into the top half of the device that swings around, for something similar to the image above. You then attach one of the concrete rods to the end of it, to make a makeshift baseball bat.

Hitting the target in the Mayachin Shrine puzzle

After you complete the construction in this Tears of the Kingdom shrine, it’s time to hit the target. You’re going to want to hit the switch as the ball comes to the line on the ground that’s the closest to you. This is the sweet spot where it should hit the target. This can vary depending on your build mind, as not everyone’s will be exactly alike, but as long as the ball is struck roughly as it hits the closest line to you, you should be good to go. Having done some testing, my build will hit the target even if I strike the crystal to swing the device as it finishes crossing the second closest line, which means the ball is hit just before it crosses the closest line. So this can vary, but you should be good to go.

How to solve the bonus target puzzle in Mayachin Shrine

If you want to hit the other target to get the bonus chest for the Mayachin Shrine in Tears of the Kingdom, you’re going to want to take the rod that’s behind the concrete on the right, and put it into the ceiling. Then you can attach the concrete wall to that, meaning it won’t get in the way. Then you’re going to want to strike the ball roughly as it comes past the swinging device. This one has varied wildly for me, but hitting it as it looks to be just past the actual device and starting to roll past the spiked rod seems to work best for me. As mentioned above, this can vary for you, but this area is roughly what you’re going to want to aim for if your build is similar to mine from this guide.
