How to solve Ukouh Shrine Puzzle in Tears of the Kingdom

First shrine!

To get through The Closed Door on the Great Sky Island in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you first need to solve the Ukouh Shrine. This is likely the first shrine you’ll come across as Rauru points you toward it after the initial cutscene. After interacting with the green palm and entering Ukouh Shrine, here is how to solve it in Tears of the Kingdom.

Tears of the Kingdom: How to solve the Ukouh Shrine puzzle

Upon entering Ukouh Shrine in Tears of the Kingdom, you’ll talk with Rauru and receive the Ultrahand ability. This ability allows you to grab and move objects, rotate them, and stick them to other objects. You’ll use Ultrahand to solve the Ukouh Shrine puzzle.

The first thing you need to do is create a bridge with the stone slab. Use Ultrahand by pressing L. Then, press A while focusing on the stone slab to pick it up. You can move it up and down with the right analog stick and forward, backward, and side-to-side with the left analog stick. You can even rotate it by holding R.

As a quick note, Tears of the Kingdom starts with motion controls enabled. This means that moving your controller will move the thing you are carrying. I recommend turning this feature off as it can make using Ultrahand to place objects harder. To turn motion controls off, go into the setting and select Disable.

You need to rotate the stone slab and release it so it creates a bridge. Once it is in the correct position, press X or tap L to exit Ultrahand and drop whatever you’re carrying.

For the next section, you need to attach the two stone slabs together. Place one stone slab on the ground. Then, grab the other stone slab and rotate it so it lies on the ground next to the other one. When they are in one vertical line, press A to attach them.

If you attached the two stone slabs together in a way you don’t want, simply grab one of the stone slabs and wiggle the right analog stick back and forth to unstick them. With the two stone slabs attached together, place your long bridge across the gap and let go. You can now walk across.

For the last challenge, I recommend using the hook to get across. Grab the hook that is on the ground with Ultrahand and place it on the rail. This can take some moving and rotating, so just be patient. Once the hook is on the rail, let it go and jump onto it. The hook will follow the flow of the rail and carry you across.

After solving those three challenges, you’ll interact with the last green palm, receive the Light of Blessing, and have completed the Ukouh Shrine! Congratulations, now onto the next!
