Which is the better game: Dying Light 2 vs Dead Island 2

Dying Light 2

Techland’s open-world zombie game took the genre and changed it. Movement is a pillar of the game, that’s why being vertical and not on the ground is essential. Dying Light 2 weapons are just as important, and each weapon has something different. If you like to hack and slash through zombies, consider getting a one-handed weapon. For massive AOE attacks and crowd control, a two-handed hammer could be for you.

Dying Light 2 features a dynamic narrative, meaning you have choices to make. So if you play the game more than once, each playthrough could be different. One of the coolest features in Dying Light 2 is the night and day mechanic. Zombies are much tougher and need more planning to take down. This makes the game have a deeper meta.

Dead Island 2

Dead Island 2 is fun and over-the-top in its own right. While it doesn’t have the sprawling open world of Dying Light 2, the limited location can make things fun. The game is much more streamlined than its counterpart, in that you can get rather strong early on. So you can do a lot of things faster than Dying Light 2.

The game is much less movement focused,  you won’t be free-running over things as you’d do in Dying Light 2. This can make getting across the map longer. On the other hand, since the world of Dead Island 2 is smaller, this aspect won’t matter as much.

Which game is better

While this boils down to what you want to do, it could be seen as one being better than the other. In this case, it would be Dying Light 2. Because of the open world, the movements, the high degree of customization, and world-building for each playthrough, Dead Island 2 does a good job of allowing players to be creative with taking on enemies. But you’ll still face some limitations with how you play in Dead Island 2.

Dead Island 2 is available now via Epic Games.
