FFXIV 6.4 Live Letter: New raid tier, tomestones, variant dungeon, and more

Still no new expansion, but for now we've got a lot on the horizon.

The tradition of FFXIV putting on Live Letter streams outlining everything to come in the next patch is ago again for 6.4, promising several quality of life improvements as well as a host of new content with a release date in late May. But for those who couldn’t be there for the letter, we’ve got you covered with a summary. Here’s a summary of the FFXIV 6.4 Live Letter, including a new raid tier, tomestones, variant dungeon, and more.

As usual, there will be a new host of MSQ quests. From the screenshots, it looks like Erenvelle is finally coming back into the story.

Patch 6.4 Hildibrand

Tataru’s Grand Endeavor and Somehow Further Hildibrand Adventures will both be updated with new quests, the latter in 6.45.

Two new dungeons are coming; one presumably tied to MSQ is named The Aetherfront.

From the screenshots, it looks to be in the Dravanian Hinterlands judging off the architecture. Are we once more finding out the Hinterlands has big secrets? Is the ice tied to the border with Coerthas?

The other dungeon is a new Variant and Criterion dungeon, Mount Rokkon. This dungeon is Kugane themed, similar in appearance to Kugane Castle. You won’t need to have Sil’dah Subterrane unlocked for it, and it comes in three difficulties: Normal, Criterion, and Criterion (Savage).

6.4 The Voidcast Dais

The new MSQ Trial is called The Voidcast Dais, coming in normal and extreme version. In addition, the Unreal will change to Zurvan, or Containment Bay Z1T9.

Pandæmonium’s next tier comes with 6.4, Pandæmonium: Anabaseois. As usual, the savage versions comes out a week after the patch’s release.

The next tomestone set is Allagan Tomestones of Comedy. Given the name alone, there is much to speculate about what the gearset will be.

New miscellaneous content

Duty support is expanding to Stormblood. You’ll be able to take NPCs into The Sirensong Sea, Bardam’s Mettle, Doma Castle, Castrum Abania, and Ala Mhigo, for those really eager to relive Stormblood days.

Ocean fishing will be updated with a new Kugane route.

Blue Mage is getting another update in 6.45, increasing the level cap to 80 and adding new spells, gear, and Masked Carnivale enemies. It seems we’ll finally be getting spells from Shadowbringers era enemies.

FFXIV 6.4 Live Letter Island Sanctuary

Island Sanctuary’s update is even bigger than the last. New item rewards, ranks, craftables, crops, structures, animals, and handicrafts are all coming, but that’s not all. There’s also support to place regular outdoor furnishings around your hideaway, with support up to 90. Now we’re really starting to get into customizing your island to your heart’s content.

Miscellaneous quality of life updates and adjustments

Job adjustments will be occurring, but the letter didn’t specify what exactly. What we do know is starting in 6.4, job icons display on nameplates, and Scholars can now glamour fairies to Eos, Selene, or even Carbuncles. Glasses and wing fashion accessories persist into battle.

On the PvP end, series four and season seven of Crystalline Conflict begin. Frontline has a new UI element displaying match time and score, the rules for Fields of Glory (Shatter) got adjusted, and Borderline Ruins (Secure) is temporarily available. Perhaps the map is getting an overhaul?

Gear set maximums increase to 100, and the marketboard gets an adjustment too- the fee paid to buy an item is now incorporated into the total price. Items stored in a variety of locations can now be selected while casting glamours in the inn room, saving players a lot of headache.

What are you most looking forward to in 6.4?
