How to get the Landscaping skill in Forza Horizon 5

Constructive and destructive.

There are plenty of interesting skills in Forza Horizon 5, and many of them require a bit of collateral damage in order to obtain. That fact remains true for the “Landscaping” skill; it’s very easy to get it, especially when you’re trying to put together a good Skill Chain. The technique required to get it might surprise you, however. Here’s how to get the Landscaping skill in Forza Horizon 5.

Getting the Landscaping skill in Forza Horizon 5

At first glance, you might expect this skill to be generated when tearing through vegetation. And we all know that Forza Horizon 5 has a lot of destructible objects and plants. While plowing through fields and forests quickly fills the Skill Gauge, this actually isn’t the key to the Landscaping skill. Rather, it’s all about tearing down the walls — or fences, to be exact.

By simply smashing into anything that resembles a fence, barrier, or gate — the Landscaping skill will be successfully generated in Forza Horizon 5. In the more rural parts of Forza Horizon 5‘s Mexico, there are a lot of chain link fences and simple wooden gates, along with the satisfyingly breakable stone walls. Hurtling your vehicle through any of these structures will net you the Landscaping skill.

Interestingly enough, you can even get away with it in the map’s more urban areas, too. For instance, in Guanajuato, there’s short metal fencing in certain areas, such as near the entrances to the tunnel access points. Smashing through these fences will also trigger the Landscaping skill.

Indeed, no matter what kind of barrier it is (or where it is), by driving through them either forwards or backwards, the Landscaping skill will be successfully generated. It doesn’t even have to be chained with any previous skills; thus you even can start your Skill Chain with an immediate 1,000 skill score, as that’s what the Landscaping skill awards.

It must be noted that if you drift into a barrier from the side, the Sideswiping skill will be triggered instead, though that’ll still net you the same 1,000 skill score.

Remember, pulling together a long, varied Skill Chain is the key to generating a lot of Skill Points which full your gauge. Once full, you’ll earn at least one Skill Point (or even more, if your score is high enough) and then you can spend those Skill Points on various kinds of perks for your specific car.
