Destiny 2: Lightfall – How to solve the Headlong puzzle

Even Warlocks might struggle.

Destiny 2 is known to throw some strange puzzles at you occasionally. And while Lightfall is pretty light on these, there is one exception. Toward the end of the Lightfall campaign, you’ll get to a mission called Headlong. And there are a few short puzzles in this mission that can be a bit confusing at first. So, if you’re stuck on this mission, here’s how to solve the Headlong puzzle in Destiny 2: Lightfall.

Destiny 2: Lightfall – Solving the Headlong Puzzle

The first part of the Destiny 2: Lightfall Headlong mission doesn’t involve any puzzle solving. It simply has you riding your Sparrow across the map. Eventually, you’ll run into a small group of Vex that you can quickly deal with. You should also take the nearby Strand Source for that extra kick of power. But you’ll then be stopped by a shielded door and four Vex Harpies. The most likely thing you’ll do is destroy them all immediately. But you’ve probably noticed that doing that just results in them spawning back in.

At this point, you might be wondering how to figure this puzzle out, especially since the Headlong mission is so close to the end of the Destiny 2: Lightfall campaign. The key thing you want to take note of for the Headlong puzzle is the diamond shapes above the shielded doorway. You’ll notice that some are shining bright white, while others are not. Suspiciously, the Vex Harpies also follow this same layout.

The trick is to shoot the Vex in the order displayed at the top of the doorway. So, the Cation Harpy is the shiny Vex, so take that out first. It’s then followed by the Anion Harpy, which is the non-shiny enemy. And then you simply have to destroy another Cation Harpy to make the shield disappear.

Don’t worry about destroying each Harpy you see because the rest will disappear once you solve the puzzle. The Headlong mission will have a few more puzzles laid out exactly like this. And the method for each of them is the same: just shoot the Harpies in the order that the diamond shapes tell you.

The Headlong puzzle really isn’t so bad once you solve it, especially in comparison to some of Destiny 2‘s other conundrums. But if anything else has you stumped like this Season’s new Awoken Favors, or Guardian Ranks, be sure to check out our other coverage.
