There are several beasts that you can encounter in Hogwarts Legacy. One of these is the Hippogriff, a majestic creature that’s part horse and part eagle. Be wary when you approach, or it will take to the skies and leave you empty-handed. Here’s our guide to help you capture and tame a Hippogriff in Hogwarts Legacy so you can place it in your Vivarium.

Hogwarts Legacy guide: How to capture and tame a Hippogriff Beast
The Hogwarts Legacy Hippogriff Beast can be found in a location that’s due north Hogwarts Castle. Its den is smack dab in the middle of the Forbidden Forest, so it’s not advisable to trek there on foot. Instead, just fly there on your broom to speed things up and avoid most enemies.
Now, to actually capture and tame a Hippogriff in Hogwarts Legacy, make sure you’ve completed The Elf, the Nab-Sack, and the Loom, a main quest that unlocks the Beast taming and Vivarium mechanics.
With that done, head to the location as seen on the map above. Once you arrive, you’ll notice that there are two Hippogriffs here (one white and one brown). The idea is to sneak as you approach by casting Disillusionment. Then, if possible, use Levioso to temporarily prevent the creature from moving away. Immediately switch to the Nab-Sack and press the ‘F key’ when you’re prompted. Do this multiple times while staying in range so you can pull the animal to your magical container.
If you fail, try to run after the Beast while spamming your Nab-Sack’s action prompt. In case you really can’t chase it, it’ll fly away and leave its den. Just fast travel back and forth to make the two creatures respawn.
Anyway, if you successfully capture and tame a Hippogriff in Hogwarts Legacy, go back to your Vivarium in the Room of Requirement. Let it out of your Nab-Sack by checking the menu (i.e., ‘H key’). Pet it and keep it fed so it drops its unique item, the Hippogriff Feather.
Hogwarts Legacy is available via Steam.
