Games Workshop is playing pretty fast and loose with its licensing policy these days. Not only are Cyanide developing at least twenty different Blood Bowl games, but a team called Full Control are doing Space Hulk, Creative Assembly have the Warhammer Fantasy license and Relic (now over at SEGA) most likely still have plans for another Dawn of War.
To this list, you can add strategy developers Slitherine. The company has announced that they have signed a licensing deal with Games Workshop to “produce a strategy video game set in the popular Warhammer 40,000 universe.” Development is said to already be underway.
That’s … about all the team is revealing at the moment. If I had to guess, I’d say given Slitherine’s history this game will be turn-based.
“The Warhammer 40,000 setting is a perfect fit for the style of strategy games that we make and will be very popular with fantasy and science fiction fans alike,” says Slitherine Group chairman JD McNeil.
