There are (currently) a total of 36 characters to choose from in Overwatch 2. They all fall into one of three important roles in a 1-2-2 five-person team. The ever-changing meta can make it difficult to decide which heroes are the best to take on the battlefield. Usually, the Overwatch 2 heroes with the highest pick rates are the ones that are the most powerful and have the biggest impact in a match.
Although a player’s choice can often reflect that of their opposing team, one would wonder which heroes are picked most often. Below, you can find an updated list of the popularity of each of the characters in the game.

As you can see, Ana is currently the most popular choice in Overwatch 2 at an 8.95% pick rate. Fellow support character Kiriko, however, is not far behind with 8.04%. Although they sit at fifth overall, Genji takes the top spot as being the most picked character in the damage role. Further down the list, we have Reinhardt who is at eleventh place, but is chosen most frequently for the tank role.
On the other hand, the bottom three characters, Wrecking Ball, Echo, and Ramattra all have a pick rate of below 1%. Ramattra is new to the roster, though, and it’s likely his pick rate is low due to not everyone having access to him yet.
