PR agency not at all happy with Duke Nukem review scores

This article is over 13 years old and may contain outdated information

Redner Group threaten to cut-off review code to publications scoring the game negatively.
PR agency Redner Group, handlers of the Duke Nukem Forever account for 2K Games in the United States, have made a near-unbelieveable public statement regarding review scores for the recently released shooter.
In a post on Twitter, the company said “too many went too far with their reviews… we r [sic] reviewing who gets games next time and who doesn’t based on today’s venom”. The tweet in question has since been deleted and replaced by an apology for the outburst.
Our own review of the game scored it a 4.2/10.
Of course, the threat of withholding review code and access to games/developers will be nothing new to those that have been working in the industry for any length of time. However, this is the first time I know of that such a threat has been made so publicly.
PR and publishers would do well to remember that as much as videogame publications rely on them for access to games and developers, they rely on the publications for coverage and building non-biased awareness for new games.
