Call of Juarez: The Cartel’s intriguing co-op play revealed

This article is over 13 years old and may contain outdated information

The Cartel’s last trailer was a load of controversy-baiting bobbins, but this one makes the teamwork side of things look pretty interesting.
See, in this latest installment of Call of Juarez, the cops you’re controlling seem a little on the shady side. That means they’re not above making a little extra on the side, even during supposedly co-operative missions.
As a result, the co-op mode (dubbed ‘co-opetition’) will feature secret missions, personal to each character. While still working with a chum, you might be asked to swipe some drug money that just happens to be laying around the place (without being spotted by your partner, naturally). It’s kind of like if Left 4 Dead had the option to secretly steal from corpses when people weren’t looking.
In addition to that, there’ll be a few skill-based challenges like being the first to five headshots on a given level.
All in all, it sounds like a decent, game-appropriate twist on the co-op theme. Have a look at how it works in the trailer below.
Last we heard, Call of Juarez: The Cartel was due “this summer” on PS3, PC and Xbox 360.
