Forza Horizon 5 Donut Media update is live with DLSS and fixes

Playground Games has officially launched the Donut Media update for Forza Horizon 5. This brings with it a slew of bug fixes, along with content updates, including a new Horizon Story, cosmetic items, accolades and car rewards. But, as a special treat for PC users, Playground has also implemented support for Nvidia DLSS and AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution, as well as more support for ray tracing.

The technical enhancements of this update were first outlined a few days ago. Playground explained how the tech would be implemented, providing details on recommended specs for handling the new ray tracing options. In short, you’ll need a beefy card to run the game with ray tracing at its highest settings. Nevertheless, it’s great to now have ray tracing while playing and in Photo Mode (where it will look its best).

Both Nvidia DLSS and AMD FSR options are available to those with supported cards. Regardless of which you choose to go with (AMD FSR is available to all), you have the ability to boost the game’s resolution without sacrificing performance. Your framerate may actually improve, depending on your settings and hardware configuration. All of the new display options for both DLSS and FSR can be found under the “Anti-Aliasing” section of the Graphics menu.

And a bucket of new toys

The Donut Media update for Forza Horizon 5 includes some vehicles that are mostly returning from past Forza entries. This includes the 1965 Morris Mini-Traveller, 1946 Ford Super Deluxe Station Wagon and 1953 Morris Minor Series II Traveler. There is one car that is entirely new to Forza, however, which is the 2020 Lynk & Co #62 Cyan Racing 03.

Car customization fans really get to eat good with this update, as it includes 21 new widebody kits for various cars all from the ever-popular Rocket Bunny brand. The new Donut Media @ Horizon story features some new gameplay events, along with the new Donut Media Test Track. For the completionists out there, there are eight new accolades to shoot for, as well.

The various fixes this update contains are mostly related to handing performance and stability issues, fixing some UI elements, and offering other small changes here and there. The full list of patch notes can be viewed on the official Forza support website.

Forza Horizon 5 has enjoyed a decent first year. The developer released the game’s first major expansion in the form of the well-received Hot Wheels DLC a few months ago. There have also been several content drops released throughout the year, such as the recent Forza Horizon 10th Anniversary update. Its second paid expansion is on track to release at sometime in “early 2023,” which was revealed last week. Playground will share more details in the beginning of the year.
