The long-range meta.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 fully launched on October 28. There is a range of weapons for you to unlock and level up, along with a lot of camos to get your hands on along the way. The TAQ-56 has taken the top spot in the long-range weapon meta, and with the best class you’ll be able to use it to rack up high kill games in your future Modern Warfare 2 matches.

With the launch of Modern Warfare 2, there has been a plethora of classic weapons that have returned to the title. This includes the M4 and VEL 46, while you may even recognize the TAQ-56 as being the Scar. This year, the way we unlock weapons has changed as you have to follow a weapon tree. In regards to the TAQ-56 however, you only need to reach level 30 in order to unlock the gun. The Modern Warfare 2 gunsmith differs to that in Call of Duty: Vanguard, since you only pick five attachments rather than 10. With that being said, there are still a lot of attachments to choose from, so it can be difficult to know what to use. This guide has got you covered with the best TAQ-56 attachments dominating the meta.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 TAQ-56 class

  • Muzzle: RF Crown 50
  • Barrel: 14.5” Tundra Pro Barrel
  • Underbarrel: FTAC Ripper 56
  • Rear Grip: Demo Cleanshot Grip
  • Ammunition: 5.56 High Velocity
  • Receiver: TAQ-56

Let’s begin by breaking down the build. The first attachment used on the TAQ-56 class is the RF Crown 50 muzzle, which will boost your horizontal and vertical recoil control. In terms of a barrel, the 14.5” Tundra Pro is a strong option for increased damage range, bullet velocity, and even hip fire accuracy for close-quarters fights. Then, the FTAC Ripper 56 underbarrel continues to add to your accuracy with better recoil stabilization, aiming idle stability, and hip fire accuracy.

Next, the Demo Cleanshot Grip will make up for some lost mobility by improving your sprint to fire and aim down sight speeds. Last but certainly not least, the 5.56 High Velocity ammunition adds to your bullet velocity, ensuring your assault rifle packs a punch at those longer ranges.

Weapon tuning

Modern Warfare 2 has introduced fans to weapon tuning, adding another layer of customization to your class. This allows you to gain more of your preferred characteristics and make a loadout that closely resembles your play style. However, Infinity Ward has disabled weapon tuning until further notice due to an issue. At the time of writing, it has been four days since the feature was taken out of the game and we still don’t know when it could return.

As for your secondary weapon, a pistol is a handy back up to have in your pocket. If you encounter an enemy up ahead but you run out of ammunition in your TAQ-56, taking out your pistol is a quicker option than reloading your assault rifle. So far, the X12 is proving to be one of the best pistols in Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer.
