Since you’ve almost certainly played Resident Evil Village before getting into Shadows of Rose, you’ll no doubt remember the Hall of Ablution, which is Lady Dimitrescu’s bathing chamber that was filled with blood. Just like in the main campaign, you’ll need to open the bath to go underground into the cellar. But there’s a brand new puzzle waiting for you. Read on to learn how to solve the new Hall of Ablution puzzle solution in Shadows of Rose.
If you don’t care about thinking through this one and just want to get it over with, this guide will tell you the order in which you’ll need to interact with the statues.
Resident Evil Village: Shadows of Rose — Hall of Ablution bath puzzle solution
The only clue rests on the slab pictured below. It reads: “Although I have just drowned, the arrows’ bit doth sting. They hanged me long ago, yet I feel everything. But still the worse, not the last nor first, the sharpened blade did ring.” Eerie.
There are four statues, each depicting a different method of injury. You need to use the above text to figure out what order the four are in. “They hanged me long ago” makes it clear that hanging is first, so you’ll want to interact with the statue of someone being hanged. Stabbing is neither last or first, so you’ll want to hit that one next. The first line makes it clear that you next need to interact with the drowning statue and then the statue that has been shot with arrows. Once you do all of these in order, the bath will open up and you can proceed into the cellar, just like in the base game.
Undoubtedly, this is something that will feel like déja vu to returning players, as the Ablution Hall contained a puzzle with four statues previously. But, hey. With this guide, you don’t have to spend much time on what really amounts to a retread of something you’ve possibly seen multiple times before. Except with dying people instead of statues looking at each other. And don’t worry if you accidentally do one out of order, as all four statues will reset immediately. It takes no time at all.
