Sorceress Sellen is an important NPC in Elden Ring since she’ll allow you to purchase Sorcery spells. However, she’s also got her own quest chain that involves finding other powerful wizards. Here’s our Elden Ring guide to help you find Lusat and Azur for Sorceress Sellen’s quest.

Elden Ring – Where to find Lusat and Azur for Sorceress Sellen’s quest
Sellen’s Scrolls and Sorcerer Azur in Mount Gelmir
To clarify, I’m not yet sure about the correct trigger for Sorceress Sellen’s quest in Elden Ring. What I can tell you is that I collected all three scrolls first, handing them to Sellen in Waypoint Ruins. Then, while going through the campaign, I discovered Primeval Sorcerer Azul, a “dead” NPC that gives the Comet Azur spell.
You’ll spot Primeval Sorcerer Azul in Elden Ring if you keep going around the loop past Fort Laiedd in Mount Gelmir. Follow the road northeast from Hermit’s Shack and run past the miniboss. You can just tag and rest at the Site of Grace next to the corpse to remove aggro.
Note: Comet Azur costs a whopping 60 INT just to equip. However, it’s also one of the strongest spells in the game. Fully channeled, it can melt bosses within seconds.
After obtaining the Comet Azur spell, I returned to Sorceress Sellen. There were two sets of responses:
- “Let us journey together” vs. “Let me think about it” – I chose the latter by accident.
- However, when I talked to her again, there was still an option to “help restore the Primeval Current.”
You’ll then receive the Sellian Sealbreaker key item. Likewise, Sellen tells you about another mage who got expelled. His name is Lusat, and it seems that he’s somewhere in Caelid.
Prisoner Sellen in Witchbane Ruins
I did try looking everywhere for Lusat in Elden Ring. At the same time, I also discovered another Sellen in Witchbane Ruins. The location is in western Weeping Peninsula close to the Fourth Church of Marika. This Sellen, which seems to be the real variant, is chained in the cellar.
Note 1: Let’s call them Vendor Sellen and Prisoner Sellen to avoid confusion.
Note 2: As of now, I’m not sure if defeating Rennala Queen of the Full Moon is a hidden trigger that lets Prisoner Sellen talk to you. I was well past that point in my campaign run when I did this quest, though I’ve seen other players that mentioned it.
Note 3: If you accidentally attacked either variant, you can use Celestial Dew in the Church of Vows to remove hostilities.
I fast traveled back and forth between the two locations, with Vendor Sellen telling me to return to Prisoner Sellen again. Then, that’s when Prisoner Sellen gave me the option to take her Primal Glintstone (another key item).
Note: When I received the Primal Glintstone, Vendor Sellen disappeared from Waypoint Ruins.
Sorcerer Lusat in Caelid
Going back to Lusat, I should say that I’ve completed the Sellia Town of Sorcery quest, and I’ve probably slashed every inch of the Sellia Tunnels to no avail. Thankfully, I received huge help from Twitter user William J (@oood).
Basically, to find Lusat in Elden Ring, you’ll need to spawn at the Church of the Plague in Caelid (which you should discover while doing the Sellia Town of Sorcery quest). Then, go northeast to the graveyard on the hill. You should spot an undead mage and a large tombstone. Hit the wall behind the tombstone to reveal an entrance.
This takes you to a dungeon called Sellia Hideaway. Bring a blunt weapon here since there are lots of crystalline mobs.
Just follow the pathways and, if you think there’s a dead-end, try hitting the walls.
Our goal is to go deeper into the cavern, and there are rocks, ledges, and large crystals that you can use for traversal. Shortly, the winding tunnels will take you to the boss arena. You’ll be up against all three Crystalian varieties, which is going to be a headache.
Fortunately, you’re not required to kill them. Instead, just prior to reaching the boss’ room, look for a spot down the chasm while you’re standing on a crystal formation. Right down there is a blue rune.
Fall down (your character should survive) and interact with the rune so that the Sellian Sealbreaker can unlock this section.
Congratulations! You’ve finally found Lusat in Elden Ring. Stay there for a bit (his animation takes a while) to receive the Stars of Ruin spell.
Update: Finding a new body for Sellen
Big thanks again to Twitter user William J (@oood), as the next step for Sellen’s quest in Elden Ring has been discovered. Simply clear Caria Manor so you can reach Three Sisters in Liurnia of the Lakes. This location has a different but lengthy quest chain involving Witch Ranni, but we won’t discuss that in detail here.
Instead, make your way to the ruins in the middle of this zone. At the top of the ruins’ steps, you should see an opening that leads to a cellar.
Note: If you can’t see the cellar entrance, you may need to hit the floor in case it’s an illusion.
Inside are several puppets used by the wizards here. At the back of the room, there’s a fake wall that you can hit. It will reveal a compatible body for Sellen.
Place the Primal Glintstone in the puppet and Sellen will come back to life. She can sell Sorcery magic, at least for now. Make sure you buy everything that you still need.
Next, when I teleported to Witchbane Ruins, I saw an executioner who told me of Sellen’s crimes (i.e., the most dangerous wizard in Raya Lucaria). He also laughs since Prisoner Sellen is already dead, but he knows that she’s still out there in a new body.
Note: The executioner commended me for being the festival champion. That means defeating Starscourge Radahn and talking to the herald afterward is a requirement for this interaction to occur. Radahn’s herald will be sitting in front of the chapel overlooking the yard in Redmane Castle.
At this point, I returned to the Three Sisters cellar and noticed that Sellen had disappeared… again. I’ve tried looking for her in the rest of this sub-zone, as well as the Academy of Raya Lucaria, Azur, Sellia Town/Tunnel/Hideaway, Waypoint Ruins, and more. She did say that she wants to topple the Carian Royal Family and bring back primordial magic, so that might be a clue. Lastly, when I went to the Road to the Manor, I saw that Iji, one of Ranni’s trusted companions, has been burned to a crisp. I’m not sure if that’s related, but you do receive Iji’s Bell Bearing that you can give to the Twin Maiden Husks.
Nevertheless, I hope the reward for finishing this entire thing is amazing. If we get 300 primogems or two tokens and a blue, I’ll be vastly disappointed.
Update: Head to the entrance of Rennala’s chamber in Raya Lucaria. There, you’ll make a fateful decision. It’s time to finally conclude this quest chain.
