Total War: Warhammer III Daemonic Glory guide – Chaos God and Chaos Undivided rewards

Daemonic Glory is a resource that you can increase as the Daemon Prince in Total War: Warhammer III. It represents how much you worship each Chaos God individually, or the pantheon as a whole (i.e., Chaos Undivided). Here’s how you can earn this resource:

  • Battle victories – Choose from any of the four, as well as Undivided Glory separately. There’s no casualty replenishment option even when you win a battle, so other sources are very important.
  • Settlement captures – Choose from any of the four, plus Undived Glory combined therein.
  • Missions and events – Awards Glory for any of the four, with Undived mixed in from time to time.
  • Buildings – When you capture settlements and dedicate it to a specific deity, some of the buildings therein will generate Glory for that god.
  • Legendary lord skills – The Daemon Prince has five rows of perks (i.e., the four gods and Chaos Undivided for all Glory gains).
  • Item sets – There are item sets that also provide extra Glory.
  • Commandments – Four of the commandments grant Glory for each Chaos God. However, the Chaos Undivided commandment is solely for corruption.

Daemonic Glory caps

Glory values that you earn will award you with new units, weapons, armors, and even mechanics. However, you need to consider these caps:

  • Soft cap: 3,080 Daemonic Glory – Upon reaching 3,080 Glory, you can fully dedicate yourself to that path. You don’t need to click that button yet, though, because you have to be mindful of other bonuses that you can still obtain.
    • Dedicating yourself to any of the four Chaos Gods – If you do this, you’ll earn bonus diplomatic relations with factions that follow that deity, but you’ll also incur penalties to others. All Glory gains will cease except for that god, but you can earn better boons in terms of mechanics, armor sets, and special abilities.
    • Dedicating yourself to Chaos Undivided – There are no diplomatic bonuses or penalties. Glory gains for the other gods will continue until they hit 3,080, which means you can still get the basic stuff but not the advanced ones.
  • Hard cap: 5,610 Daemonic Glory – This is the maximum amount of Glory that you can amass for any specific path that you choose to follow.

Special mechanic: Bloodletting from Khorne

All special mechanics are unlocked at 770 Glory for each Chaos God. First, there’s Khorne’s Bloodletting, which is very straightforward. Somewhat akin to Greenskins’ Fightiness or Taurox’s Momentum, you just need to win successive battles for stronger benefits. These give you upkeep cost reduction, growth, casualty replenishment rate, decreased global recruitment times, and Khorne corruption.

Special mechanic: Teleport Stance from Tzeentch

Simply put, this lets you teleport to another location within a given area (sort of like using the Underway but you can’t get intercepted). This is limited by an army’s Winds of Magic reserves.

Special mechanic: Switchable Plagues from Nurgle

These are the four plagues that your armies can use. The buffs apply to all units in that particular army, while the debuffs affect local, non-Nurgle forces:

  • Grey Fever – Vanguard Deployment; -10% speed and -6 melee defense.
  • The Red Ague – Cause Terror; attrition and -100% charge bonus.
  • Bowelsteep – +6 leadership; attrition and +1 Nurgle corruption in the province.
  • Ochre Pox – -5% recruitment cost; -20% casualty replenishment rate.

I definitely suggest the Grey Fever. When you’re up against opponents such as Kislev, Cathay, or Tzeentchain armies in Survival Battles, you need to get up close and personal with your lord and units. Starting a battle where you can swarm your opponents’ ranks easily makes it so much easier.

Special mechanic: Seduction from Slaanesh

When you engage a hostile force on the pre-battle screen, you can spend gold to make units come over to your side. However, the cost is dependent on that unit’s tier. You’ll mostly just pick up some fodder.

Weapons, armors, and item sets

With the Daemonic Glory amassed by the Daemon Prince in Total War: Warhammer III, you should be able to equip various gear pieces. There are multiple slots for the helmet, wings, torso, and other body parts. As for the weapons, you can have one main hand weapon and an off-hand, or a two-hander. Conversely, using any of Slaanesh’s pincer arms will prevent you from using weapon types as those claws become your actual weapons already.

Similarly, some items are parts of armor sets, and they can provide new abilities, too. For example, some Tzeentchian equipment lets you use the Infernal Gateway vortex spell that spawns a gigantic eye. Then, a select few might have Daemonic Onslaught, Deathbringer, and/or Mortal Blow for those who like charge bonus, base weapon damage, and armor-piercing weapon damage. Meanwhile, certain sets grant nifty boons, such as The Foul Prince of Nurgle with its beefy casualty replenishment rate.

Just mix and match to find a combination that’s suitable. But, remember that some pieces are tied to equipment slots, so it’s possible to have the benefits from two armor sets active at the same time (you can see all of these in the video at the end of this guide).

Which path to choose

So, knowing all of the above, which path should you follow? Well, in my experience, you really can’t go wrong with Chaos Undivided. You remain buddies with the other daemon factions, and you’ll still be able to access all high-tier units (i.e., Bloodthirsters, Great Unclean Ones, Keepers of Secrets, Lords of Change, and all four Soul Grinder variants). Perhaps the only reason to pick a specific Chaos God is if you like those boons or mechanics. For instance, the Slaanesh’s Seduce ability is further maximized if you fully dedicate yourself to She-Who-Thirsts.

In the end, the choice of what you’d do with Daemonic Glory dedications in Total War: Warhammer III is completely up to you. If you need more help deciding, you can watch the video below which outlines all the rewards:
