It has been a good past few months for horror fans. Scream 5 was a worthy successor to the franchise, the new Leatherface series looks promising, and there’s even a Texas Chainsaw Massacre game coming soon. Heading all this off is the upcoming Evil Dead: The Game, which recently got delayed to May. Despite that, a new trailer dropped today. It was brief, but shows off the game in action, some bonuses, and confirms that Evil Dead: The Game is an Epic Games Store exclusive.
The trailer kicks off with an appropriately cheesy voice over to really key in the drive-in theater, B-horror vibes of the series. We finally get to see Cheryl Williams, Ash’s sister, in motion, as well as our first look at the Dark Ones from the series Ash vs Evil Dead. After the title card, we see young Ash from Evil Dead 2 from just the back, about to take on a group of Deadites. We then get to see two of the pre-order bonuses for Evil Dead: The Game.
Both are costumes from Army of Darkness. The first is S-Mart Ash (Housewares!) and the second being “Gallant Knight” Ash, donned in the medieval armor from the film’s climactic battle. Then we get a look at the Collector’s Edition and Ultimate Collector’s Edition of the game. Of which, there will only be 5,000 and 1,000 of each made, respectively, across all versions. The latter of which is, unfortunately, already sold out.
This… is my boomstick!
It is abundantly clear the love for the franchise that the team behind Evil Dead: The Game has. The game even includes some deep cut characters like Henry the Red and Pablo from Ash vs Evil Dead. It also incorporating the various Deadites and other monsters from the series. Speaking of which, sometime soon we will get our first look at gameplay playing as a Kandarian demon. No concrete date was given for this gameplay reveal, though.
Thankfully, the game’s Twitter account confirmed that the game will have full cross-play between PC and consoles when Evil Dead: The Game releases on May 13 for the Epic Games Store.
