Capcom has remained relatively quiet regarding news of Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, the upcoming expansion for the latest in the company’s wildly popular Monster Hunter franchise. So far, Capcom has only put out a handful of teaser trailers and extra bits of information about the expansion’s various aspects, such as the new and returning monsters. Considering that the PC version of the base Monster Hunter Rise game will finally come out next month, however, it would make sense for Capcom to unveil more substantial news about Sunbreak soon afterward. As it turns out, Capcom plans to do exactly this.
Monster Hunter Rise Director Yoshitake Suzuki teased this upcoming news on the official Monster Hunter Twitter account. He thanked the playerbase for “warm comments” that the developers “received since the announcement of” Sunbreak, and he noted that the team will “share some great reveals with everyone next Spring.” Suzuki’s comments came soon after a brief tweet posted on December 27, which also promised more Sunbreak news in spring of next year.
What news could it be?
Only time will tell what kind of information Capcom will share next spring, but it will likely include actual gameplay footage that the company has refrained from showing off so far. Sunbreak will no doubt feature the same Wirebug mechanics that players fell in love with in the base Monster Hunter Rise experience, but it could also feature a brand new gameplay element, as the Monster Hunter World: Iceborne expansion did exactly this with the Clutch Claw. Capcom could also reveal information regarding more difficult G Rank quests, as those remain some of the most requested features from the community.
Monster Hunter Rise has remained incredibly popular (and fun to play) since it was first released on Switch this year, so the prospect of learning more news about Sunbreak is certainly an enticing one. So far, Sunbreak is slated for a summer 2022 release, but maybe we will get a more concrete release date next spring.
