Sam Max Beyond Time Space remaster duo

Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space remaster to release next month

The remastered trilogy continues.

The Sam & Max games remain some of the most beloved point-and-click adventure titles out there. The Sam & Max: Save the World remaster, released last year, served to remind fans of that love. It succeeded in adding modern conveniences and extra layers of polish, while preserving what made the original release so appealing. Fans of the remaster will likely be elated to hear that developer Skunkape Games plans to release another remaster, this time of Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space, on Dec. 8 2021.

According to the Steam page, this new remaster enhances all of the original game’s five episodes “with gorgeous HD graphics, overhauled lighting and lip-sync, finessed cinematography,” and “remastered audio.” Additionally, the remaster incorporates “eight all-new musical tracks featuring live jazz musicians. Otherwise, it appears that nearly the entirety of the original experience remains intact, so players can still “tease out brain-tickling puzzles,” receive “subtle contextual hints” when stuck, and partake in “optional driving minigames” that serve as “fun diversions from the story.”

Plenty of crazy scenarios await

The plot of Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space sees the iconic duo partaking “in a showdown with Santa Claus, a race to subdue a giant volcano, and a face-off with a Eurotrash vampire.” Players can also expect to see dancing zombies, singing mariachis, and giant killer robots. Amidst all the wacky hijinks, Sam and Max have to resolve several tantalizing questions. For instance, “is paranoid shopkeeper Bosco on to something with his talk of a grand conspiracy?”

Much like with the previous remaster, it looks like this new release of Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space should offer everything that fans could ever ask for, and then some. Judging by the rate that these remasters have been coming out, fans can probably expect to see a re-release of Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playhouse late next year.
