UK retailers will be offering the usual grab-bag selection of pre-order bonuses with Battlefield 3, EA has revealed today.
Pre-ordering through GAME and Gamestation (as well as EA’s Origin distribution system) will get you the “Physical Warfare” pack, featuring three exclusive tools. There are the Type 88 light machine gun with bipod, the SKS sniper rifle flash suppressor and some armour-piercing ammo for the DAO-12 semi-automatic shotgun. You’ll also get instant, unlocked access to that same shotgun. Lucky you.
Meanwhile, over at Amazon, there’s a “SPECACT kit”. In game terms, this means a set of eight unique multiplayer character skins.
Finally, Play.com is offering a “Dog Tag” pack. Dog tags serve as some kind of individual signature in Battlefield 3, letting players customise their soldiers. Every time you take down an enemy or steal his dog tags, your message displays on-screen. The “Dog Tag” pack has five unique tags.
My initial impression is that Amazon and Play got a bit stiffed when DICE was handing out desirable bonuses, but maybe people really, really love multiplayer skins and dog tags.
Battlefield 3 will be available from 28 October in the UK, on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. It’ll be available in both standard and limited editions (featuring the “Back to Karkand” expansion).
