Everybody get up, it’s time to slam now (again). The Kickstarter campaign for a sequel to 2008’s b-ball RPG Barkley, Shut Up & Jam: Gaiden has surpassed its goal of $35,000 USD in less than 24 hours. It was only launched yesterday, but is already (at the time of writing) at a total of $40,000 USD.
In an update post on the game’s Kickstarter page, developers Tales of Game’s (yes, that apostrophe is intentionally wrong) express gratitude to everyone who’s donated money so far.
“Barkley 2 is really, really going to happen now and we owe it to you, so thank you. MAN!!! Thank you all so much. THANK YOU!!!” reads the happiest section.
Stretch goals are on the way, but the team admits to being “caught a little off-guard” over how quickly the project reached its funding goal. Nonetheless, they are “currently working on stretch goals” and have “some very good stuff in the works that we think you will be excited about.”
“Every single dollar that we get directly translates into more time we can work on Barkley 2, which means that it will be even bigger and better and funnier.”
