Amazon reports over 2,000 per cent increase over pre-orders of Battlefield 2.
EA DICE’s Battlefield 3 is seeing pre-order numbers on Amazon increase 2,302 per cent over those of Battlefield 2.
Clearly, this speaks to the strength of EA’s marketing and press preview campaigns. As far back as April EA spent big bucks on a lengthy television advert during England’s FA Cup. Battlefield 3 does not launch until late October.
Also announced was that pre-orders of Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 are up 321 per cent over those of Call of Duty: Black Ops. While that number by seem significantly less impressive than that of Battlefield 3, it must be remembered that Black Ops is currently the best-selling game of all time.
Other figures revealed by the online retailer include Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is up 488 per cent compared to its predecessor, Batman: Arkham City up 349 per cent over Arkham Asylum and Gears of War 3 up 216 per cent on Gears of War 2.
