Episode 3 Act I has been a stable affair for Riot Games’ tactical shooter. The Valorant agents haven’t needed any serious changes recently, with patch 3.03 merely fixing some bugs. One of the fixes did nerf Viper a little, but she needed it. Riot has now released Valorant patch 3.04 and, once again, there’s nothing game-changing in here. This will be the last patch before the delayed Act II arrives on September 8.
The big news of the update is the new Recon skin line in the Valorant store. These cosmetics have a modern military design that you’d expect to see in Battlefield 2042 rather than Valorant. Still, they look slick and well made.
Valorant patch 3.04 highlights
As previously mentioned, the main purpose of this patch is to fix bugs and sort out other issues. Omen players will be happy to hear that Dark Cover will now settle more predictably. This is excellent for trying to land one-way smokes.
The other major agent fix is that abilities can no longer be placed on Cypher’s Cyber Cage projectile while it is traveling in the air. This isn’t something that should be happening often, but it’s now gone for good. Consistency is important in a tactical shooter, and Riot is addressing this.
Before patch 3.04, if all living players died at the same time, the attacking team would win. This has now been changed to award victory to the defending team. Since they prevented the attackers from planting the bomb, it makes more sense that they take the win.
As for the new Valorant Recon skins, you can purchase a bundle containing all of them for 7,100 VP. You’ll get a skin for the Phantom, Ghost, Spectre, Guardian, and a butterfly melee knife called the Balisong. The guns have three color variants and four levels, while the knife has two levels and the same color variants.
The featured image at the top of the article shows the laser pointer and flashlight attachments for the Recon skins. These are purely cosmetic and will have no impact on the competitive integrity of the game.
