Witcher 3 Wild Hunt

Witcher 3 next gen update with ray tracing will also have new free DLC

The new content will get that extra bit of pop.

The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt released over six years ago, which is certainly hard to fathom for some. It brought an immersive visual experience and rich storytelling. It was also fairly well optimized, unlike the more recent game from CD Projekt RED. It’s no wonder the publisher has sold over 30 million copies to date and continues to receive plenty of revenue from its older release. The Witcher franchise has become so popular that it even has a successful TV series starring big name actor Henry Cavill. It’s not surprising that CD Projekt RED decided to create a next gen version of The Witcher 3 with updated graphics and systems.

CD Projekt shared that The Witcher 3 next gen update will include upgrades like ray tracing and improved load times, but the deal gets better for those of the TV series. The developers have decided to include some new free DLC to go along with the big update, and it will be inspired by the show.

Is it worth another playthrough?

If you’re wondering what the DLC will include, we’re right there with you. The tweet that revealed the plans for the upcoming DLC was sparse on details. Based upon previous content additions to the Witcher 3, new armors, weapons, quests, and Gwent cards are all plausible. We’d guess that we’ll get to don Geralt’s armor from the show, and there will probably be some silly inclusions as well.

The tweet goes on to mention that more details will be revealed soon, which is nefariously vague. However, there is an upcoming stream at 9 PM ET tonight for part two of WitcherCon. Perhaps there will be another teaser for the game that gives us a better idea of what to expect. Until then, you can check out some more teasers for Season 2 of the The Witcher TV series.
