Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin – Monstie Expeditions and quick leveling guide

Monstie Expeditions are unlocked halfway through the game’s third chapter. Basically, you’ll just continue onward with the main quest while you’re in Kuan Village/Loloska.

So, how does this activity work? Well, for starters, you can access this menu via the stables. You should see three selection panels:

  • Field – The zones that you’ve cleared beforehand will become available (i.e., Hakolo Island, Alcala, and more).
  • Instructions – This will set priorities and time limits for the group. If you’re looking for rare items, pick the “Treasure Hunter” option. Alternatively, go with “EXP Enthusiast” for Monstie leveling.
  • Monsties – You can pick up to six creatures to join the expedition as long as they’re not members of your active party. The higher their levels, the better the chance of success. In a few cases, there might be additional modifiers in play (i.e., Loloska favors creatures who have water or ice elemental bonuses).

Note: You can increase the number of active expeditions by purchasing upgrades via the Melynx Inc. shop.

Mind you, the duration/timer will only run as long as you’re in-game. Closing the game and coming back later won’t work. In any case, you should be notified once a Monstie Expedition is finished.

This feature is a good idea if you wish to earn EXP passively. You can continue your adventure and you’ll just return to town every now and then.

Perhaps the fastest means of leveling your new Monsties is by using the “Quick Finish” mechanic. There’s just one caveat: it requires you to out-level your opponents by a margin (I believe you need to be at least five levels higher). This works in situations where you may have just discovered a rare egg or the monster has a particular gene that can only be unlocked once it reaches a certain rank.

Simply visit low-level zones and head straight for the mobs. You’ll be able to hit the left shift and spacebar keys (or both trigger buttons) to instantly kill all enemies. Likewise, you’ll obtain an S rank because of this method. Oh, and if you wish to speed things up even further, you can interact with the Prayer Pot and use a Training Charm to gain a temporary boost.
