Rocket League Gets Cross-Platform Play Between PC and Xbox One

This article is over 8 years old and may contain outdated information

Rocket League players on PC and Xbox One will now be able to face off against each other in multiplayer matches.  This is the first step in an effort by Microsoft to open up Xbox Live for cross-platform play across all services. Along with this push, Microsoft also extended an invitation for other networks to join this cross-platform effort later. Chris Charla, Director of ID@Xbox, wrote this on the integration of cross-platform play:

…in addition to natively supporting cross-platform play between Xbox One and Windows 10 games that use Xbox Live, we’re enabling developers to support cross-network play as well. This means players on Xbox One and Windows 10 using Xbox Live will be able to play with players on different online multiplayer networks – including other console and PC networks.

This addition isn’t far off either. Psyonix, developer of Rocket League confirmed that cross-platform play will be available later this Spring, with details coming shortly before that. Head over to Chris Charla’s letter to learn more.
