Nexon, best known for their free-to-play PC games like Dirty Bomb, MapleStory and Vindictious, have announced their acquisition of mobile developer, Big Huge Games.
The developers first met back in July 2013, when they partnered on mobile title DomiNations, a free mobile game on iOS and Android. Nexon says their buyout of Big Huge will provide future service to DomiNations to sustain the game with fresh content for an extended period of time. Owen Mahoney, President and Chief Executive Officer of Nexon, had this to say on the buyout:
We are thrilled to be joining forces with Big Huge Games. One of Nexon’s core objectives is to empower the best game developers around the world and enable them to succeed. DomiNations has achieved great success in both the West and Asia, and we’re excited to work with Big Huge Games to deliver the best quality gameplay to fans for years to come.
DomiNations launched in April 2015 and surpassed 19 million downloads worldwide since then. While Nexon will be aiding in the expansion of DomiNations, the developer will also be servicing their current and future titles.
