Genshin Impact: Midsummer Island Adventure – Act II guide

Well, that was neat!

After a couple of days of frolicking in the Golden Apple Archipelago, the Traveler, Klee, Jean, and Barbara will encounter something that’s both amazing and mysterious. It seems that there’s more to this region as new islands emerge from the bottom of the sea. Here’s our Genshin Impact guide to help you with Act II of the Midsummer Island Adventure and new locations in the Golden Apple Archipelago.

Genshin Impact guide: Midsummer Island Adventure Act II and new locations in the Golden Apple Archipelago

Return to your main camp in Puddling Isle during the day to meet up with the Traveler’s pals. It looks like there are “tower buoys” in the area. You can use the Waverider to shoot and destroy these.

After destroying all three, a cinematic will follow. More islands emerge from the sea, shocking and confusing the entire group. I’ve gotta hand it to miHoYo here since this is pure RPG goodness.

When that’s done, Klee says that the Dodo-King might be on the central island. Travel there and you’ll spot a Waverider spawn point, a fast travel point, two Echoing Conches (more on these later), and the Maguu Kenki. The mechanical samurai doesn’t do anything at the moment, though we expect a battle would follow during Act III (June 14).

For now, you’ve got more locations to explore in Genshin Impact‘s Golden Island Archipelago. Likewise, Barbara will hand you a Harpastum, which is just a fancy term for a ball that you can throw as part of some minigames. Let’s take a look at the new stuff that you can do.

Treasure chests. enemies, and totems

Because the original islands themselves have seemingly sprouted into towering rock formations, you’ll be able to explore the expanded shoreline.

You’ll notice a bunch of hilichurl enemies that might be guarding additional treasure chests. How they managed to spawn so quickly when everything was underwater is beyond me. Alternatively, some of these chests might require you to use elemental skills to light up nearby totems.

Minigames

In other cases, the chests are rewards upon completion of minigames. There are two kinds that I’ve seen so far:

  • Painted Ground – It involves standing on the marked area to throw the Harpastum at the Dodo-King’s Painted Wall.
  • Hymnal Rings – This one has you throwing the Harpastum throw colored rings to modify the projectile’s element.

Whirlpool Off to Starboard, Full Speed Ahead challenge

There’s a challenge that you can complete that nets you extra rewards. It entails using the Waverider to reach islands, then doing a bit of gliding to collect Wavesplitter Insignias (golden coins).

Sea Ganoderma

Sea Ganoderma is a character ascension material that will be used by Kaedahara Kazuha. He’s not part of Genshin Impact‘s roster yet, but he’s expected to arrive once Klee’s banner ends on June 29.

Similar to Starconch’s found on the beach, Sea Ganoderma is scattered all over the shoreline in the Golden Apple Archipelago. The best part is that, since this is an entirely separate region, you can add more pins on the world map. You can visit our Sea Ganoderma farming locations guide if you need more help with this ascension material.

Secrets and sidequests

I’ve seen a few secrets and sidequests that lead to rewards. Examples include finding shipwrecks, discovering murals, sailing to a fog-covered island, solving a puzzle involving pillars, and looking for a hidden totem.

More Echoing Conches

Since more locations have opened up, we’ll also be able to collect additional Echoing Conches for Barbara’s swimsuit. As of the time of this writing, I’ve found 28 out of 32 Echoing Conches (more than enough to unlock Barbara’s beach outfit). There are others out there, but it’s also possible that new locations will be revealed in the coming days.

As such, please consider this article as a primer on what you can expect from Act II of Genshin Impact‘s Midsummer Island Adventure. We’ll have more detailed guides for you soon, so stay tuned.

Update: You can learn about all the stuff you can do during Act III here.
