AMD promotion leaks Dirt 3 codes

A vast number of Dirt 3 codes for Steam (estimated to be as many as 3 million), have been accidentally leaked through a botched AMD promotion.
The codes were intended as a promotional bonus for buyers of certain types of AMD graphics cards, but a missing .htaccess file meant that the directories on AMD’s third-party promotional website were open for all to see.
Precisely how many codes were leaked in this fashion is unclear, but the figure of 3 million comes from a Bohemia Interactive developer posting on Steam’s forums (though quite how he knows is another matter). Other reports have quoted a figure of 1.7 million.
AMD has issued a statement about the blunder, reassuring people that only a third-party website was compromised and that AMD and Codemasters’ servers are safe and sound.
“AMD will continue to honor all valid game vouchers, however the current situation may result in a short delay before the vouchers can be redeemed,” it adds.
As all the codes were meant for redemption on Steam, it shouldn’t be too hard for AMD or Codemasters to issue a full list of missing codes and have Valve deactivate them.
