Having every Halo game playable on PC is any gamer’s dream. The Halo franchise is perfect for PC, and if you wanted to try the franchise out before the The Master Chief Collection, you had to play Gearbox’s port of Halo: Combat Evolved from 2003. That version of the game came with its own sets of issues though. It struggled with muddy visuals, poor lighting, and a slew of other graphics problems. Thankfully, 343 Industries is addressing those issues with a graphics update specifically for Halo: Combat Evolved in TMCC.
Members of the Halo: The Master Chief Collection Insider program can now access a new version of Halo: Combat Evolved with updated graphics. The results of 343 Industries’ work can be seen immediately in a video from Mint Blitz. The update cleans up the game’s sloppy textures, and lighting across the board looks much better. It’s not clear why 343 Industries is giving Halo: Combat Evolved a graphics update now, but it’s more than welcome. When this version of the game releases along with Halo: TMCC‘s Season 7 update, players will be able to experience the first Halo title at its best.
What else is coming in Season 7 of Halo: The Master Chief Collection?
Besides a massive graphics update for Halo: Combat Evolved, players can look forward to even more new content. Season 7 of Halo: The Master Chief Collection will be bringing new customization options with it, as all other updates have. However, instead of focusing on Spartans, Elites will be getting all of the attention this time around. Seven new Elite armors are heading to Halo: TMCC. Season 7 will also see seven new skins for Energy Swords added into the game. Sadly, we can’t say what additional gameplay features will be coming with Season 7, or when the season will be releasing. Here’s hoping 343 Industries finally decides to reveal the custom games browser though.
YouTuber Mint Blitz collected some before and after footage for the new update. Check it out below:
