Rome: Total War came out all the way back in 2004. I personally consider it as one of the best strategy games at the time. My cousin, another strategy game aficionado, and I played countless hours. We defeated our opponents, painting the known world in our faction’s colors. Fast forward to the present and we’ve got Total War: Rome Remastered.
Total War: Rome Remastered, developed by Feral Interactive, presents a slew of changes that make the game more in line with some of Creative Assembly’s other releases. These include QOL improvements, 4K and ultrawide support, high-resolution textures, additional options, map overlays, and even a new agent. With so many intricacies, and because certain concepts from the original were also retained, it can feel like a mish-mash of sorts. In any case, here’s our Total War: Rome Remastered guides and features hub to help you out.

Is it worth it? – While it’s true that Total War: Rome Remastered has many improvements, we have to wonder if it’s truly worth your while. Remember, certain facets and core mechanics were retained, so it can lead to a confusing experience. In a way, you can see a clash between the past and present occurring. On one hand, there are concepts that make you feel nostalgic. On the other, you’ll remember how much Creative Assembly has further diversified its portfolio and franchise.
Technical review – This remaster has a shiny coat of paint. But, it does have higher requirements (the system requirements are actually more demanding than Rome 2‘s). Let’s dive into the graphics options, performance, and other settings.
Beginner’s guide – What were the mechanics like for a game that came out a decade and a half ago? Well, you’ll find out once you start playing. To avoid some mishaps, here’s our beginner’s guide with several tips to help you get started on your journey.
The best factions to play in the grand campaign – Total War: Rome Remastered includes the base game, as well as its two expansions (Barbarian Invasion and Alexander). You even have the option to unlock all playable factions from the get-go. As such, with a plethora of options, I’ve listed my favorite factions for the base game’s campaign.
