Valheim‘s world is full of mystery, dread, and wonder. But, it can also take a while to complete certain processes. Indeed, you’re forced to pass the time in a few cases such as when waiting for spawns, or while trying to ferment mead bases. Thankfully, there’s a bug that lets you speed up the process by skipping time quickly in the game. Here’s our mini-guide to help you out.
Note: Valheim is currently an Early Access title. As such, mechanics and content may change in due course. For more information, check out our Valheim guides and features hub.
Valheim: Exploiting a bug so you can quickly skip and fast forward the time
The main requirement for this exploit in Valheim is a bed. That’s it, really. Of course, you do need to make sure that the bed has a campfire nearby, that it’s not too exposed, and that there’s a roof over your head. Next, let time pass until it’s afternoon or night. Then, interact with your bed by pressing “E” so your character can sleep.
Once your character wakes up, you’ll see “Day X” (the current day in your campaign). Quickly hover your cursor over the bed and press “E” again. This will allow your character to go back to sleep just before you’ve fully woken up. If you do it right, you’ll be greeted with a notification that it’s “Day X+1” already. Congratulations, you just skipped one day forward.
Note: You might have a grace period of a few seconds, but it really is important to hit “E” as soon as you can.
Try to check back on any nodes or enemy-held areas. You might notice that some resources and mobs have respawned too.
Best of all, you can do this as often as you’d like. In the case of mead and potions, the fermentation process takes two full days, so you’d want to skip time just to grab your drink buffs. It’s also possible to see some changes to your garden and planting area for crops.
Valheim is available on Steam as part of the Early Access program. For more information, check out our guides and features hub.
