Bioware’s Casey Hudson fills in a few more details about Mass Effect 3’s multiplayer in this new video.
Information about this aspect of the title has been flowing pretty freely since the lingering rumours were confirmed as fact. Hudson’s little chat focuses more on how the co-op multiplayer can influence the single player portion of the game, rather than specifics of how missions will function (such as the ‘survival mode’ details revealed earlier today).
Keep in mind that this is a segment from a Bioware-produced broadcast, discussing a Bioware game with a member of Bioware’s staff, so dragging out the facts out from beneath the marketing spin isn’t exactly easy.
It seems as though co-op multiplayer missions will contribute to Shepard’s progress through the game (in the sense that success in these side-jaunts will increase his/her chances of getting the ‘best’ or ‘complete’ single player ending). However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that multiplayer is mandatory. The impression given by Hudson is that a ‘pure’ single player run can also do enough side-quests to get the best possible ending too.
Mass Effect 3 will be released next March, on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
