Mediatonic clearly adored its moment in the limelight last summer when Fall Guys took the gaming world by storm. The game is a blast to fool around in, but enthusiasm cooled off as players began to identify shortcomings in the game design and limited content options. The developers took notice of this and worked hard to scale up operations in response to the smash success of its jellybean royale. The first three seasons have added new levels, costumes, and gameplay improvements to Fall Guys, but Mediatonic decided to squeeze in a big Season 3.5 update for added measure.
The mid-season update is live today, and it nearly adds the amount of content we got in the entirety of Season 1. This seems like an indication of how Mediatonic is growing as a company, and we’re excited to see future development goals. As for today’s update, let’s dig into the details.
Why be content when you can have more
The Season 3.5 update introduces the Snowball Survival Round, 40+ Round remixes, new skins, bug fixes, and gameplay improvements. For starters, Snowball Survival challenges jelly beans to jostle their way through a blizzard of snowballs. And by snowballs, we mean giant snowballs that will crush you. Meanwhile, you’ll need to worry about the floor disappearing. Good luck with that.
Once you’re ready to venture beyond the craziness of the new stage, you can discover the 40+ round remixes. Apparently by trial and error. Mediatonic was careful not to allow too many details slip, but did let a video do some of the talking. As you can see, you’ll be falling and flailing in new directions as you seek to relearn past stages in the different variants. If this is enough to get you excited again about the game, you can also check out the new Sugar Plum skin pack. It’s the latest new way to appear unique, but you can also expect the return of the Godzilla, Sonic, and Random Goose Game skins.
A better life for your beans
We also mentioned that there are bug fixes and gameplay improvements included in the Fall Guys Season 3.5 update. Check out the new kill feed feature to see if your friends or foes meet their fate. And since you already have enough to worry about during actual gameplay, forget about the following issues in previous versions. Hex-A-Gon and Freezy Peak mechanics should now work as intended. Issues related to crashes and freezes have been resolved. You’ll also notice better fps in certain levels. The game itself should also look better now, as some post-processing effects were not working as intended, which caused the game to look washed out.
There are a few more mentions in the patch notes, while you can also check out the official blog post on the Fall Guys Season 3.5 update.
