Genshin Impact: Pure Geo Hypostasis and Stone Heart Sonata I

Genshin Impact has a Stone Heart. Does that mean it's already better than Game of Thrones' eighth season?

Genshin Impact‘s Hypostatic Symphony event is now on its third day. This time, the challenge is called the Stone Heart Sonata I and your opponent is the Pure Geo Hypostasis. Here’s our guide to help you out.

Encounter tips

If you’ve been farming the “normal” Geo Hypostasis in Guyun Stone Forest, then you’ll be familiar with how the fight is supposed to go. However, the Pure Geo Hypostasis still has a few tricks up its sleeve.

Firstly, take note of the four pillars that have spawned. The boss no longer teleports back and forth these pillars in quick succession. Instead, it’ll stay hovering over the same pillar until you destroy it. Moreover, it won’t do the Crystal Pellet attack on its own anymore. It’ll simply activate the other remaining pillars, and those will turn into turrets that’ll blast you. Yikes!

Note: If the Pure Geo Hypostasis stays on a specific pillar for too long (i.e., you can’t destroy the pillar fast enough), that pillar will emit a continuous burst. Combined with the pellet barrages, you’re in for a world of hurt.

Another tweaked ability is the Rock Seal. Remember how the seal around a character did massive damage only once? Now, the seal will erupt three times. Make sure to keep running or you’ll get annihilated.

As for the other regular abilities, I didn’t notice anything different.

Surviving the Pellet Barrage

As mentioned earlier, the other pillars will start peppering you with a barrage of pellets. As such, trying to destroy the first pillar means having to avoid the projectiles from the other three. Thankfully, you can just stay behind the pillar that the Pure Geo Hypostasis is floating on to hide from those projectiles.

Now, once a pillar is destroyed, it’ll spawn three Geo shield crystals that you can pick up. These will partially nullify the damage from the pellets, but you can still take a beating if you’re not careful. Likewise, since one of the modifiers lowers a character’s ATK stat if they’re not shielded, you better make sure those shields are active.

Following the boss around the arena

After destroying the first pillar and doing some DPS, the boss will finally teleport to a new pillar. For me, it usually moved clockwise (to my left). But, other variables have to be considered.

Sometimes, the boss might do its Wall Smash next to you, or the pillar could pulse and do a single Shockwave. Additionally, the boss might cast a Multi-Shockwave. As usual, quickly break the Geo cube near the pillar to generate a force field. This is actually what you need to watch out for. If you picked the stamina consumption modifier, running across the arena (in case you telegraphed the boss’ movement incorrectly) will cost you dearly.

Anyway, continue cracking those pillars, hiding from/avoiding the pellet barrages, and wailing away on the boss.

Gilded Tile and Final Stand

If you’ve destroyed all four pillars, the boss will cast the Gilded Tile ability which triggers a room-wide Shockwave every five seconds. The only way to stop this is by destroying the four diamonds in the area. Thankfully, there are a few shield crystals that you can pick up to help mitigate the damage.

Now, assuming that the boss is down to just a sliver of health left, it’ll do its final stand. It’s actually the same final stand that you’ve seen before from the normal Geo Hypostasis — obliterate the three pillars to finish the encounter.

Note: If you crushed all four pillars and pushed the boss to low health, it’ll do its final stand and, if you aren’t able to kill it during that phase, it’ll follow up with the Gilded Tile ability. After this sequence, it’ll spawn the four pillars and revert back to the regular phase. Assuming you’ve selected a low timer modifier, it’s important to drop the boss’ HP quickly, or this entire transition will cost you those precious seconds.

My team’s composition

For the Stone Heart Sonata I challenge, I chose Tartaglia, Diluc, Zhongli, and Qiqi:

  • Tartaglia’s my main DPS since there’s no modifier that penalizes Hydro damage.
  • I used Diluc to help break the pillars since he has a claymore. His DPS did suffer since I activated the boss’ Pyro resistance modifier.
  • My Zhongli is only level 50 but, funnily enough, his charged skill already depletes 40% of the pillar’s HP. Even better, his elemental burst which you can save for the end of the fight actually annihilates all three pillars during the final stand.
  • As usual, Qiqi is my emergency healer (in case I’d forget to eat food).

After four attempts, I received 3,915 points. I had all the modifiers active and the only differences were with the timer (180 seconds) and extra boss health (25%).

I guess that should be fine for now. Don’t forget that you only need a minimum of 2,858 points from each challenge. That’s if you want to reach the total score of 20,000 points by the time Genshin Impact‘s Hypostatic Symphony event ends.
